Influenza
Flu season runs from the Fall through the early Spring and typically peaks in mid-winter. The average flu season last 13 weeks. There are two main types of influenza: A and B. The best way to protect yourself from getting the flu is to get the annual flu vaccine. Anyone over the age of 6 months can be vaccinated.
In addition to getting the flu vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend:
- Frequent hand washing
- Staying away from those that are sick
- Staying home if you are sick
- Covering your hand and mouth when you sneeze and/or cough
